POSITION SUMMARY
The financial analyst will be responsible for the preparation of month-end supporting schedules and assisting the finance team in financial reporting and other tasks and reports as stated under the duties and responsibilities section. Payroll administration may be assigned to the financial analyst as needed.
The financial analyst must have the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Regular schedules
- prepare monthly departmental financial reports, revenue and expense schedules, and investment schedules
- monitor monthly cash requirements and fund transfers
- bank reconciliation
- complete GST/PST worksheets
Other
- ad-hoc analyses
- budget preparation and forecasting support
- document business processes and software-related procedures
- review existing business processes and make recommendations for improvements
- review existing business reports and make recommendations for improvements
- perform other finance, accounting and payroll-related duties as required
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required skills and qualifications include:
- at least three of the six core and elective modules under the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP), or its equivalent, preferably in financial reporting, management accounting and finance
- minimum of two years or more of progressive accounting experience, preferably with experience in financial and analytical reporting, budgeting and forecasting
- advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Dynamics GP, or similar accounting software applications
- ability to work under pressure while paying attention to details and ensuring accuracy
- effective organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- team player with effective interpersonal and communication skills, and a positive attitude exemplified by patience and a willingness to learn
- flexibility in work hours to meet deadlines
- ability to handle confidential materials and information with the highest level of integrity
- business-related bachelor’s degree an asset
